It is a common misconception that all business negotiations should take place to reduce the price that is being paid for the product or service in question. Well, there are some products and services where there is no scope for negotiation. How can you negotiate with a bespoke tailor? How to reduce the service charges? To request or beg is going to seem cheap. Why should the tailor make an exception for you? Chances are high that the tailor will tell you to take your business elsewhere.
After all, negotiation is not about begging for better deals. It is about creating a situation where the other party realizes that you have understood that the existing deal is not as good as it is made out to be. So, how can you negotiate with somebody who stitches your clothes? Well, why do not you ask for faster service? If time is of importance, then the fact that you are going to receive your clothes faster is automatically going to help you extract more value out of the deal.
Or, you can ask the tailor to make minor cloth accessories like handkerchiefs or a small cloth purse out of the waste cut out from the cloth. You can just request the individual to help you enjoy a better deal value for the money you pay. When you pose such a request, you will be putting the other party in a very difficult position. Reducing the price may not be something that he or she would be interested in. However, creating a handkerchief out of the extra cloth that has been cut off is not an impossible task.
You can easily save a lot of money in the process if you get this service without paying anything extra. Do this three or four times and you will have enough handkerchiefs to manage without spending any thing on the same.
